HBMUOAA year 2002 officers

Dear alumni,

Sorry that our first message to you guys comes so late. Zhong Shen and
I was finally able to assembly a new council. Being on the hot seat makes
us a little bit nervous, especially when looking back at the excellent jobs
that former presidents have done. Luckily we have the support of all our
members, and the former presidents (Drs. Zheng, Ren, Ye and Tu) and senior
activists (Profs. Tian and Tao) are here to offer advices.

Our basic goal for this term is to "keep the ball rolling", i.e. keeping
the traditions handed down from previous terms. To strength and to expand
our association we need everybody's support: your suggestions, advices and
more importantly, your participation. Already I have received many good
suggestions from some council members and president-elect Dr. Kang, on
ways to improve communications between alumni and our alma mater. The things
on our minds are:

1. Strengthen local activities. We encourage alumni to organize local
activities so that our members can have a chance to meet face to face.
If desired, form local chapters.

2. Better communications between alumni and back in HBMU/WDHSC. For this
we need help from everybody that has such channels, to bring the news
to our alumni and to express our views back to HBMU/WDHSC. Please post
any news directly to our alumni forum or email me.

3. Promote academic trips to give lectures when going back to China. This
initiative existed two or three years ago and we want to strengthen it.
Dr. Kang said that the university welcome such visits, either in a group
or just one persion, and they will pay for your expanses in Wuhan. If any
of you will go back to visit, please contact us and we will make arrangements
for you.

4. Strengthen communications between our members. Under Dr. Zheng's term,
we have regularly shared the success stories of our members and we want to
continue that. If you have any good news (e.g. promotion or important
publication), please let us share your joy. Likewise, if you encounter
problems in daily life or at work, we want to be among the first to help
or at least to be someone that listens.
