1. We are planning to have a picnic party on June 7, 1997 at Centennial Park, Columbia, Maryland for celebrating establishment of our overseas alumni association and Hong Kong return to China. The officials from the Embassy of PRC will be invited for the coming event. The party will start at 12:00 and end at 3:00 p.m. We would like to invite all of HBMU members to join with us. In case of rain on that day, the party will be postponed to the following Saturday. Dr. Ren Ke made a visit already to the park and he feel it is very nice spot for our picnic. He provides here the direction how to get to Centennial Park:

Take I-95 (either from north or south) to Exit 41B (Route 175W toward Columbia). Make a right at the first light onto Route 108W. After 2.5 miles, (staying on 108W), bear left at the curve in the road. After 3 miles (shortly after Columbia Road) make a right into Centennial Park South entrance. Follow "HBMU" sign to the site.

2. Our alumni members made some excellent publications recently on very prestigious journals. These are: Dr. Hua Xianxin. et al.: Cell 87: 415, 1996, Dr. Hu Jianming, et al.: PNAS 93:1060, 1996; Dr. Ren Ke, et al.: PNAS 94: 1471, 1997.
