Dear alumni,

It reaches the end of the year, Zhong Shen and I would like to say
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family.

Zhong Shen was just back from a trip to Wuhan. While he may write
a more detailed report, I can share with you what we talked over the
phone here.

Zhong Shen has helped the First Affiliated Hospital to secure a $430,000
grant from Stanley Foundation to study the use of traditional Chinese
medicine in the treatment of mental illness. The Hospital side was very
appreciative during his visit.

For many of us who have not been in Wuhan in recent years, there is a lot
of change, just like anywhere in China. The road by the East Lake is now
widened, and the tall trees are gone. I hope Zhong Shen will post some
pictures on our web site later. If you have any to share, please do so.

Medical school dean Fan Mingwen is very supportive of the communication
between them and us, and has arranged special personal to handle this.
If you ANY questions related to WDHSC/HBMU, be it a visit to campus,
give a lecture, research coorporation, thinking of returning to China
permanently, or need some academic credentials from WDHSC/HBMU, please
contact Dr. Jiang Ming at jmzj2000 @ hbmu . edu . cn .

We'll schedule the annual cold winter meeting in the DC/Baltimore area
and let you know more as soon as possible.
