Dear Alumni:

I am pleased announcing that 2003 Council Committee has worked out an
agenda for 2003. Many council member have given excellent ideas and inputs
into agendas. I am truly thankful and really proud of them. Committee
think the proposed agendas are important to move our Alumni forward and
also very challenge. Therefore, great supports from all alumni are
necessary to accomplish these goals. We consider to form subcommittee to
tackle some difficult goals. Here, I sincerely ask the involvements of all
alumni. If you have any ideas and suggestions to these goals or you want
to give help on specific goals, please let us know. Let's all work
together to build an attractive and active HBMUOAA.

2003 Agendas of HBMUOAA

1. Register as a non-profit organization with a tax exemption ID number
for fund raising

To raise fund, registration of an organization is needed. The fund will be
used for general purposes and fellowship establishment for needy students
as described in Goodwill fellowship.

2. Update and amend HBMUOAA by-laws

The current by-law is too old and simple. An up-date is needed.

3. Redesign and update HBMUOAA website

We have a good website. Thanks for the excellent job Yidao has done! We
plan to add more information and redesign it.

4. Enhance local chapter activities

Our alumni are spread all over the world. But they are more populated in
large metropolitan area. Gathering local alumni and establishing local
chapter are good way to unite our alumni.

5. Provide information

Information will be provided through our website. Committee think
following information are important:

(1) Oversea alumni contact information
(2) Alumni in China contact information
(3) Alma Mater information
(4) Association activities
(5) Outstanding alumni
(6) Career development related info.

6. Provide help

Alumni should have function of "service center". We can provide following
help at least:
(1) Contact with Alma Mater. We can help alumni contact with Alma Mater
if needed.
(2) Help alumni settle down. If new alumni from China need help, local
alumni can help on this.
(3) Co-organize class reunion activity such as 20 year reunion of class
79 and 80.

7. Organize a delegation to visit school

This has been mentioned many times over the years. We will try to make it
happen. The purposes of this trip are scientific exchange, lecturing, and
visiting. We can organize a symposium over there. If time is right, we
can attend the 60-year anniversary of HMU.

8. Establish Goodwill Fellowships

Students in China have to pay every thing now. It is very difficult for
students coming from poor families. We can provide some help for some
needy students. Committee think that it is meaningful thing to do. It
also will promote our organization instantly.

9. Fund-raising

Our association only has less than $100 fund now. We will try to get some
fund from every possible way.

10. Attract more HMU graduates to Alumni

We have 104 registered members from US, 47 from other county, 31 from
China, and 12 are un-classified. There are many alumni who have not joined
us yet. But we believe we can attract more alumni if we do a good job.
