Dear alumni:

I appreciate everyone's trust and support. I am extremely honored to be
the new president of WUSMOAA. Even though I may not be the most qualified
person for this position, I will try my best to make our association
attractive, helpful and stronger in the next 12 months.

Since the WUSMOAA was founded, former presidents have done excellent jobs
to "keep the ball rolling". To strengthen and expend our association, we
need everyone’s support, suggestion, and most importantly, participation.

On my way to take the position, I received great help and suggestions from
former President Dr. Cai Yidao, and President-Elect Dr. Xiao Shu-Yuan.
I want to expression my deep appreciation for all these. I am going to
treasure this unforgettable experience and devote my effort to it.

Here are the things on my mind:

1) More communication among alumni. We encourage more local activities
so that members have more chance to get together. We can also enhance
communications on the internet to give suggestions and share ideas.

2) Better communications between alumni and our medical school in Wuhan.
We want to strengthen the existing activities of academic trips/exchanges.
We also have an idea opening for discussion and suggestions. The idea is
to set up a small scholarship award for top senior students in medical
school under the name of the alumni association.

3) Practical details. For the future of our association, we encourage
members to donate to our alumni fund. We need a treasurer to take care
of our account and who has the knowledge and is willing to fill out
some IRS forms to tax-exempt status (2 former Presidents, Dr. Cai and
Dr. Thomas Zheng have likely studied this). Also, we would like to set
a relatively stable Council besides the new Council member joined every
year. If interested, please nominate yourself or someone that you can
think of, so that you can have the opportunity to serve our alumni.

4) Alumni registration. Lastly, those of us currently on the alumni list
should encourage other alumni to register their contact info to our
web-based database. After many years since graduation, and job changes,
this database would be the most comprehensive and effective way for our
communication.
